Approximately 323,000 Nissan Pathfinder SUVs have been
recalled in the United States because the hoods
can suddenly fly open and obscure the driver's view
Recalls apply to models made between 2013 and 2016
U.S. safety regulators posted
documents in which the automaker noted that
dust and dirt can accumulate on the secondary hood latch
When the hood is closed, it can malfunction and stay unlatched
When the main latch is released accidentally or not
properly closed after engine service,
The Hood Might Fly Open
This problem is being addressed by Nissan
Nissan will begin sending out letters to owners on July 18
After the repair has been completed,
Owners Will Be Notified Again
